Jorge Possollo was born in September 1958.
At the age of 12 he began taking photographs with a Voigtlander and in the following years he began developing and enlarging analogue photographs in the private laboratory of António Sena da Silva, a renowned designer, architect, artist, photographer, pedagogue and businessman, who taught him photographic techniques in greater depth and inspired him to continue influencing various dimensions of his personality.
He never stopped photographing, exploring hidden angles and experimenting with new possibilities that emerged with the evolution of technology.
During the late 80s and first half of the 90s, he was an Assistant Professor at FCUL in the Geology Department. He taught Mineral Deposits, Crystallography and Mineralogy, while studying for a Masters in Management at ISCTE and taking photographs whenever possible.
Despite a subsequent intense career as an international MD, which saw him spend a decade between London, New York, Madrid and Cologne, he never gave up his passion for photography.
His first formal exhibition took place in 2011 with a set of 28 photos exploring the effects of reflections on urban buildings in various cities.
The second exhibition entitled “Visions of the Invisible” took place in Lisbon, in March 2023, where 35 Diasec pieces were exhibited with noticeable success, resulting in the sale of ninety one “Diasec” pieces for the decoration of a reference Hotel unit in Lisbon, member of the Vignette Collection. All pieces are either of very limited editions or single pieces, to ensure exclusivity and are sold with a certificate of autenticity highlighting dimensions, editions, production method and photo.
A third exhibition under the label of “Other Visions of the Invisible”, took place in December 2023, in Estoril, showcasing 25 Diasec pieces. The “Diasec” production method has clearly become his preferred production method, with unparalleled durability and UV protection, ensuring the longevity and value of every piece, throughout time.
The February 2024 ”Mercado P’la Arte” collective event in Lisbon provided a further opportunity to show his work, although this time jointly with many other artists. In this event, 5 Diasec pieces were exhibited. Following this exhibition, an agreement with Ultramar Galeria in Lisbon was concluded, for the permanent exhibition of his works. Ultramar is specialized in mid-century modern and space age collectible design furniture, architecture and interior decoration.
Art Expo Algarve in Portimão, a collective taking place in September 2024, was the next exhibition of another 5 pieces, to fully optimize every opportunity to showcase is work.
He currently lives in Lisbon, where he works as a strategic business consultant and pursues his photography activities.
